Rogene Warren Smith, 89 passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 13, 2020, at her Fowler home. Celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020, at at the Fowler First Baptist Church, 422 Main Street, Fowler.
Rogene was born on July 16, 1930, in Fowler to Grover and Ruby Warren. She married J.R. Smith on Jan. 15, 1947, in Fowler. To this union were born one daughter and three sons.
Rogene worked as a waitress for many years at different restaurants in and around Fowler, 32 of those years at the Stockman Restaurant on the east side of Fowler. She never knew a stranger and love meeting new people and making new friends. She enjoyed seeing and being with her family and was always ready to GO, didn't matter if it was just down the block to a grandchild’s ball game or church concert or on a cruise to Mexico or Alaska. Eating lunch at the Blackburn-Dennis Community Center was always a good time. She was Lady of the Year for Beta Sigma Phi and Missouri Day Parade Marshal twice. She played the piano at her church on Sundays up to her passing away even though she had bad arthritic fingers.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Alan) Kochevar of Pueblo; sons, Jim (Henrietta) Smith of Burlington; Jerry Smith of La Junta and Jay (Tammy) Smith of Fowler; ten grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and seven great, great-grandchildren. Rogene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters.
