A new bicycle shop is open in Rocky Ford. Arkansas Valley Cycles, LLC opened its doors at 415 North Main Street, and sells a full array of accessories and parts, youth and adult helmets, new and "occasionally-used" bicycles, and is a full service bicycle repair shop. Additionally, if you want a bike built to your specifications and liking, Scott can do it for you.

Scott Black, owner and mechanic, began working at bike shops in Denver over 25 years ago. As a teenager in the city, Scott worked as a bicycle messenger, delivering packages to businesses and offices in downtown Denver.

He continued his adult working career with a short gig at Greentree Cyclery. And then in the early 90’s, Scott hired on at the iconic shop of the bicycling world, the Denver Spoke. He plied his trade at the well known, unassuming bike shop close to the DU campus until it closed around 2011. He then later worked at Nice Bike, a small, boutique bicycle shop presently located on South Broadway in Denver.

But the desire to own a bike shop, and be the boss was always on his mind, and the dream was achieved when he and his family moved to Rocky Ford in April, 2019. Scott is optimistic about his new business venture, and Arkansas Valley Cycles, LLC is a much needed business in Southeast Colorado.

Whether you’re a kid on a BMX bike, an amateur weekend, or avid year-round cyclist, you will find something you like at Arkansas Valley Cycles. However, due to the recent few months of people being relegated to their homes, the demand for bicycles far surpassed the supply, and it will be a few weeks until Scott has a full assortment of new bicycles.

Scott is an authorized dealer stocking a full line of Haro bikes, BMX equipment and supplies, and many other brands of quality cycling equipment and bicycles.

Arkansas Valley Cycles hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Scott can be reached by telephone at (719) 316-1008.
