As Otero Junior College starts the new semester, Rattler athletics introduces new assistant coaches to five of the College's teams. Softball, rodeo, wrestling, baseball and basketball welcome new talents to their programs.

Sammy Coleman will be assisting for the men's basketball team. Coleman is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has coached at Collin College and has been a summer high school coach for four years.

Austin Crist, an OJC alum, is the new assistant rodeo coach. Crist is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and competes professionally in the team roping event.

The baseball team will have help from Nathan Howell, a Front Range Community College and Colorado State University alum. Howell coached at the college and high school level.

The OJC wrestling team welcomes John Lewis as an assistant coach. Lewis wrestled for CSU-Pueblo in college. After graduation, he went on to coach in several high school programs.

Alexandria Quintana, a former Rattler softball player, will assist coach Dwight Sanders with the softball team this season. Quintana went on to play for Adams State University. After graduating from ASU she continued her passion for softball as a coach and umpire.

Rattler athletics is excited to see the impact these new coaches bring to their programs.
