When and where to drop off your ballot

In-person voting and registration windows

A 24-hour ballot drop box is stationed in the south parking lot of Otero County Courthouse at 13 W Third St. Other drop off locations in Otero County include Fowler and Rocky Ford city halls.

Early voting is picking up, at least in Otero County. The statewide early voting period is Oct. 19 to Nov. 2, but the specific dates and times can vary from region to region. Ballot boxes are now available across Otero County.

Five hundred ballots have already been received by the Otero County Clerk and Recorder's Office as of Thursday.

Registered Colorado voters began receiving mail-in ballots after counties began mailing them Oct. 9.  As of Thursday, there are 19 days between now and Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Otero County ballot drop off and voter locations

There are multiple ballot drop off locations in municipalities across Otero County. For in-person voting or ballot drop offs in the La Junta area, visit the Clerk and Recorder's Office at the Otero County Courthouse at 13 W Third St., Room 210.

The Clerk and Recorder's Office is hosting the Otero County Voter Service and Polling Center. The hours of operation from Oct. 9 to Nov. 2 are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A 24-hour dropbox location is also available outside the courthouse in the south parking along Third St.

On two upcoming Saturdays, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, the voter service and polling center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.

On the day of the General Election Nov. 3, the polling center will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The municipalities of Fowler and Rocky Ford are also scheduled to host voter and polling centers from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening on Election Day.

Fowler City Hall at 114 E Cranston Ave., Fowler, is host to a ballot drop off-only location. Voters can deliver their ballots during city hall's regular business hours from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Rocky Ford City Hall is also hosting a ballot drop-off only location from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Nov. 2.

Prospective voters can still register to vote via in-person, online or mail registration. In-person registration can be done up to and on Nov. 3. One can register online or by mail by and on Oct. 26 (mail registration must be received that by that day).
