The Rocky Ford and Las Animas Valley-Wide Health System Clinics will temporarily move services to telehealth availability only in light of staff members at the sites testing positive for, or being quarantined due to exposure to COVID-19.

Dental services at Rocky Ford Clinic are being rescheduled but dental services in Las Animas will continue.

Otero Public Health declared both Rocky Ford Clinic and La Junta Clinic as coronavirus outbreak sites — meaning three or more people must test positive for the disease. Rocky Ford and La Junta each have three or more employees who have tested positive while Las Animas has one employee with a positive test and is not considered an outbreak site.

However, due to a staffing shortage, the Rocky Ford and Las Animas Clinics will only see patients virtually. The La Junta Clinic will still operate with face-to-face care.

A release issued by Valley-Wide Health Systems Inc. on Oct. 28 stated that in-person services are expected to resume at Rocky Ford and Las Animas by Nov. 4.

The employees who have tested positive, and those who have been exposed to COVID-19, will quarantine at home under CDC and public health guidelines.

In addition, Valley-Wide Ride will temporarily be available to transport people to a location providing in-person, non emergency care.

“We understand that accessing these two clinics is not always easy, so we have made the Valley-Wide Ride temporary in the Arkansas Valley,” the release stated. “If you need free transportation for non-emergent healthcare services, please call 833-350-1113.”

If you have had contact with one of the staff members who tested positive, a contact tracer or public health official will contact you.

For those with COVID-19 symptoms, you can contact the Valley-Wide Nurse Triage Line for no cost at 719-589-3658, extension 9.
