Local softball players named All-Tri-Peaks League

The All-Tri-Peaks League softball teams were announced earlier this week with several players from La Junta and Rocky Ford being honored.

Four Lady Tigers were on the first team including senior catcher Azalea Gamez, senior outfielder Jaden Smith, junior infielder Lexi Nunez-Rebel and sophomore pitcher/shortstop Madison Wiley.

Five Lady Meloneers were first team selections. The list includes senior first baseman Lexi Fernandez, senior third baseman Baylie Krueger, senior outfielder Karley Milberger, junior shortstop Sidney Larrew and junior catcher Alisha Jaramillo.

Earning honorable mention honors for La Junta were sophomore third baseman Emily Noll and sophomore shortstop Alizeh Frazier. Sophomore second baseman Leila Chavez was honorable mention for Rocky Ford.

Rocky Ford junior pitcher Abby McElroy was the league's Player of the Year and J.C. Carrica was the Coach of the Year.

One McClave student was also honored as junior Anna Beckett played for Wiley.

The Lady Meloneers went 15-2 overall and 7-0 in league play, the Lady Tigers were 12-6 overall and 6-1 in league and the Lady Panthers were 10-7 overall and 4-3 in league. All three teams advanced to the Class 3A State Tournament.
