Grizzlies continue to be ranked second
The Colorado High School Activities Association released its weekly football coaches polls on Monday. The rankings are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.
After posting a 54-24 win over Walsh last week, Cheraw moved from eighth to seventh on the six-man poll. Another Southeast League team in the Top 10 is Granada, which moved from sixth to fourth.
Cheraw and Granada meet on Friday in Granada.
Fleming stayed at the top of the six-man poll, followed by Stratton/Liberty, Cheyenne Wells, Granada, Eads, Prairie, Cheraw, Briggsdale, Kit Carson and Hi-Plains.
Walsh is listed as "others receiving votes," along with North Park, Genoa-Hugo, Idalia, Kiowa, Deer Trail, Hanover, Miami-Yoder, Peetz, Sierra Grande and Mountain Valley.
Two local teams continue to be ranked in the eight-man poll. Fowler stayed at No. 2, while Crowley County dropped from fifth to seventh.
Another Arkansas Valley League team, Holly, debuts at No. 10. Pikes Peak Christian represents the Southern League at No. 9.
Sedgwick County continues to be the No. 1-ranked team, followed by Fowler, Sanford, Mancos, Merino, Dove Creek, Crowley County, Rangely, Pikes Peak Christian and Holly.
Simla and Calhan from the Southern League, and Wiley from the Arkansas Valley League are all mentioned as "others receiving votes," as are Haxtun, West Grand, Dayspring Christian and Gilpin County.
Two Southwest League teams are in the Class 2A poll. Lamar remained the fourth-ranked team and Pagosa Springs moved from sixth to fifth.
Resurrection Christian stayed at the top of the Class 2A rankings, followed by Delta, Sterling, Lamar, Pagosa Springs, Eaton, Platte Valley, University, Woodland Park and Brush.
La Junta is in the "others receiving votes" category as is Bayfield. Also on this list are Severance, Valley, Berthoud, D'Evelyn, Alameda International, Elizabeth, Manitou Springs and Moffat County.
Tri-Peaks League teams in the Class 1A poll has Florence moving from fourth to third, and Colorado Springs Christian falling from eighth to ninth.
Limon is still the top-ranked team, followed by Strasburg, Florence, Centauri, Wray, Hotchkiss, Holyoke, Meeker, Colorado Springs Christian and Highland.
Peyton and Rye from the Tri-Peaks League are listed as "others receiving votes. Also on the list are Olathe, Bennett, Gunnison, Wiggins, Yuma, Burlington, Cedaredge and Monte Vista.
In other polls, Cherry Creek is still first in Class 5A, Dakota Ridge tops the Class 4A rankings, and Roosevelt is still the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A.
