Fowler holds on to No. 2 ranking in Colorado eight-man football poll

There was no movement for local teams in this week's Colorado High School Activities Association coaches eight-man football poll. The polls were released on the CHSAANow.com website on Monday.

Fowler remained No. 2, while Crowley County is still seventh.

Holly, also of the Arkansas Valley League, rose from 10th to eighth.

Sedgwick County is still ranked first, followed by Fowler, Merino, Sanford, Mancos, Rangely, Crowley County, Holly, Dove Creek and West Grand.

Swink is mentioned as "others receiving votes" along with Simla and Pikes Peak Christian. Also in this category are Dayspring Christian, Vail Christian, Haxtun, Norwood, Elbert, Gilpin County and Byers.

Despite a 67-60 loss on Friday, the Cheraw High School football team remained in the No. 7 position in this week's six-man coaches poll. Granada, which defeated the Wolverines, remained at No. 4.

Fleming is still the top-ranked team in six-man football. Stratton/Liberty is second, followed by Cheyenne Wells, Granada, Prairie, Eads, Cheraw, Briggsdale, Kit Carson and Hi-Plains.

Walsh is listed as "others receiving votes" along with Mountain Valley, North Park, Sierra Grande, Idalia, Peetz and Genoa-Hugo.

In the Class 2A poll, Pagosa Springs rose from fifth to fourth, while Lamar dropped from fourth to seventh.

Resurrection Christian is still first, followed by Delta, Sterling, Pagosa Springs, Eaton, Platte Valley, Lamar, Severance, University and Moffat County.

La Junta is in the "others receiving votes" category, along with Woodland Park, Berthoud, Brush, Valley and D'Evelyn.

In Class 1A, Florence is still ranked third, while Colorado Springs Christian is ranked ninth.

Limon is still ranked first, followed by Strasburg, Florence, Wray, Centauri, Hotchkiss, Meeker, Holyoke, Colorado Springs Christian and Highland.

Peyton is listed as "others receiving votes" as are Wiggins, Gunnison, Yuma, Monte Vista, Bennett and Cedaredge.

In the other polls, Cherry Creek is still the top-ranked team in Class 5A, Dakota Ridge is ranked first in Class 4A, and Roosevelt is the No. 1 team in Class 3A.
