Otero's Josh Parker second in bareback riding at Eastern Wyoming rodeo

Otero Junior College rodeo competes in Torrington, Wyo.

The Otero Junior College rodeo team competed at its second event of the spring last weekend at the Eastern Wyoming College Rodeo in Torrington.

The Rattlers had one placer as Josh Parker took second in bareback riding. He had a total score of 150 points on two successful rides. He was three points behind the University of Wyoming's Donny Profit with 153 points.

Otero finished eighth in the men's standings with 160 points. Wyoming was first with 740, followed by Casper (Wyo.) College with 530, Gillette (Wyo.) College with 305, Laramie County (Wyo.) Community College with 280, Chadron State (Neb.) College with 250, Eastern Wyoming with 205, Sheridan (Wyo.) College with 170, Otero with 160, Colorado State University with 115, and Central Wyoming College with 40.

One member of the OJC women's team placed as Ashlee Kritenbrink was fifth in breakaway roping. She had one successful attempt in 2.5 seconds.

The Otero women took eighth place with 60 points. Wyoming also won the women's championship with 343 1/3 points, followed by Chadron State with 325, Gillette with 200, Laramie County with 160, Sheridan with 123 1/3, Casper with 100, Central Wyoming with 80, Otero with 60, and Lamar Community College with 20.

The next rodeo is on April 16-18 at Casper College in Casper, Wyo.
