Arkansas Valley girls golf teams begin spring season action

All of the local high school girls golf teams were in action in events played at the end of the week.

ALAMOSA INVITATIONAL

Swink competed at the Alamosa Invitational Thursday at Cattails Golf Course and the Lions were second in the team standings with 342 strokes.

Kinzie Ensor led Swink as she placed second with a 96. Jade Hunter tied for fifth with a 121, Emma Hanagan tied for eighth with a 125, and Teagan Summers was 14th with a 134.

Alamosa's Lora Ortega was the medalist with a 91 and the Mean Moose won the team championship with 316. Salida was third with 375 and Monte Vista was fourth with 385.

PUEBLO COUNTY INVITATIONAL

All three local girls golf programs were at the Pueblo County Invitational Friday at Hollydot Golf Course.

Swink was third in the team standings with 441 and again was led by Ensor who was third with an 89. Summers tied for 16th with a 113, Hunter was 22nd with a 119, and Hanagan tied for 23rd with a 120.

La Junta did not record a team score and it was led by Morgan McReynolds who was 10th with a 99. Sari Schrock tied for 20th with a 117.

Fowler also did not record a team score. Its only golfer was Alyssa Maestas who was 26th with a 121.

Pueblo South's Zoey Rodriguez was the medalist with a one-under-par 70.

Pueblo County won the event with 407, followed by Pueblo West with 431, Swink with 441, Pueblo Centennial with 470 and Monte Vista with 508.

La Junta will be at the Pueblo Centennial Invitational Monday and all three schools will be at the Fowler Invitational Tuesday at the Cottonwood Links.
