Las Animas football out of CHSAA 8-man playoffs due to COVID-19 quarantine
Las Animas High School had been looking forward to competing in the Season C state football playoffs. However, that will not happen.
Because of a COVID-19 quarantine, the Trojans will not be able to participate in the postseason.
Las Animas did play its game with top-ranked Hoehne on Friday, losing 58-0. The Trojans played without five starters.
The eight-man state playoff will have Custer County playing at John Mall and Justice playing at Plateau Valley. Hoehne and Front Range Christian received first round byes.
The Custer County/John Mall winner will play Hoehne next week, and the Justice/Plateau Valley winner will play Front Range Christian.
The championship game will be played the weekend of May 15 at Colorado State University Pueblo.
The quarantine has also canceled this week's Santa Fe Trail Day activities.
